- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. In contact with humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse’s mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ With a single rein, a Pelham rounding is required between the large ring and the lower ring. A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ On a horse that is already restless in the mouth, this stimulation may have the opposite effect.
