A baby Pelham bit in blue-patina sweet iron, with a low tongue port.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is a mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with a low tongue port. It leaves a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
- ✔ Compact Pelham: combined action on the poll and chin, with one or two reins.

🐎 Why choose this product?
A little room for the tongue without freeing up the palate: the first step toward tongue freedom when a single-jointed mouthpiece presses too much in the centre.
🧴 Care and use advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ With a single rein, a connector strap is needed between the large ring and the lower ring. A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
