A baby Pelham bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a Dr. Bristol double-jointed mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Double-jointed with a flat central plate. When the bit tilts, pressure is distributed between the center and the sides of the tongue.
- ✔ Compact Pelham: combined action on the poll and chin, with one or two reins.
- ✔ More incisive mouthpiece than a standard double-jointed bit: the plate acts edge-on against the tongue.

🐎 Why choose this product?
Use with full awareness: its plate acts edge-on, making this mouthpiece more incisive than it appears.
🧴 How to use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ With a single rein, a connector strap is required between the large ring and the lower ring. A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
