A pony full-cheek snaffle made of mild steel with a blue patina and a locking-joint mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A single joint that locks as soon as it bends: under rein tension, the mouthpiece then acts like a straight mouthpiece, which increases its action. As soon as the tension eases, it becomes a single-jointed mouthpiece again.
- ✔ Two vertical cheeks on a fixed ring. These cheeks press against the side of the cheek and significantly aid steering. The ring is smaller than that of a D-ring bit, so the leverage effect is reduced. Dimensions of the TRUST pony collection: thinner mouthpiece and smaller cheeks.
- ✔ Corrective mouthpiece, designed for horses that lean on the hand or run through the bit.

🐎 Why choose this product?
It gives you two bits in one: a single-jointed mouthpiece when the hand is light, and a straight mouthpiece as soon as the horse leans on it. The horse discovers for itself that it is better not to pull.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The upper cheeks are secured to the bridle with keepers to prevent them from tipping forward. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
