- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A single joint that locks as soon as it bends: under rein tension, the mouthpiece then acts like a straight mouthpiece, increasing its action. As soon as the tension is released, it becomes a single-jointed mouthpiece again.
- ✔ Leverage cheekpiece: the lower the rein is attached, the stronger the action. The pressure point is on the poll, just behind the ears. Dimensions in the TRUST pony range: thinner mouthpiece and smaller cheeks.

It gives you two bits in one: a single-jointed mouthpiece when the hand is light, and a straight mouthpiece as soon as the horse leans on it. The horse discovers for itself that it is better not to pull.
🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit sizer, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A three-ring bit increases the action of the hand. Start with the highest ring. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal functioning of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
