A pony Baucher bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a double-jointed mouthpiece with an elliptical link.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel that is blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Double-jointed design with an elliptical central link. This shape follows the anatomy of the mouth more closely and allows the bit to sit more freely, but it applies slightly more pressure to the center of the tongue than a single-jointed bit.
- ✔ Fixed ring cheekpiece extended by an upper arm to which the bridle attaches. The bit remains very stable in the mouth. Dimensions of the TRUST pony collection: thinner mouthpiece and smaller arms.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The elliptical link eliminates the pinching effect of a single joint without the firmness of a flat plate: it is the most forgiving type of double-jointed bit.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color turns silvery gray or brownish gray with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
