A pony Pelham bit made of Sweet Iron with a blue patina and a locking-joint mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is a mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Simple joint that locks as soon as it bends: under rein tension, the mouthpiece then behaves like a straight mouthpiece, which increases its action. As soon as the tension eases, it becomes a simple joint again.
- ✔ Combined leverage shank: it acts both on the poll, behind the ears, and on the chin. It can be fitted with one or two reins. Dimensions of the TRUST pony collection: thinner mouthpiece and smaller shanks.
- ✔ Corrective mouthpiece, designed for horses that lean on the hand or run through the bridle.

🐎 Why choose this product?
It gives you two bits in one: a simple joint when the hand is light, and a straight mouthpiece as soon as the horse leans on it. The horse discovers for itself that it is better not to pull.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ With a single rein, a Pelham rounding is required between the large ring and the lower ring. A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit is left unused: this is the normal functioning of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
