A full-cheek gag bit in mild steel with a blue patina and a low tongue port.

- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Straight barrel with a low tongue port. It provides a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
- ✔ Two vertical cheeks on a fixed ring, with two small rings for the gag cheekpieces. The cheeks increase lateral pressure and make steering easier. The ring is smaller than on an ordinary full-cheek bit, so the leverage is reduced.

🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The gag cheekpiece replaces the usual bridle cheekpiece. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
