A blue-patinated mild-steel eggbutt Pelham with a medium tongue-relief mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with medium tongue relief: more room for the tongue and less pressure on its center.
- ✔ Fixed cheekpiece with two small rings for the Pelham cheekpieces. The bit encourages the horse to raise its head. Fixed rings transmit the action more directly than loose-ring cheekpieces. The pressure points are the poll and the corners of the mouth.

🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The Pelham cheekpiece replaces the usual bridle cheekpiece. Two reins allow you to adjust the effect. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
