- ✔ Sweet Iron is a mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Double-jointed with a wide tongue relief port. Unlike other double-jointed bits, it reduces pressure on the tongue instead of increasing it.
- ✔ Fixed ring fitted with two small rings for the elevator cheekpieces. The bit encourages the horse to raise its head. Fixed rings transmit the action more directly than loose-ring elevators. The pressure points are the poll and the corners of the mouth.
- ✔ Used on horses that do not tolerate pressure on the tongue.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The elevator cheekpiece replaces the usual bridle cheekpiece. Two reins allow you to regulate the effect. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
