A Swivel bit made of Sweet Iron with a blue patina and a locking jointed mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A single joint that locks as soon as it bends: under rein tension, the mouthpiece then acts like a straight mouthpiece, which enhances its action. As soon as the tension eases, it becomes a single-jointed mouthpiece again.
- ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings connected by a vertical bar. The mouthpiece is attached to this bar and pivots up and down, producing a lifting effect. It can be used with one or two reins.
- ✔ Corrective mouthpiece, designed for horses that lean on the hand or run through the contact.

🐎 Why choose this product?
It gives you two bits in one: a single joint when the hand is light, and a straight mouthpiece as soon as the horse leans on it. The horse discovers for itself that it is better not to pull.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
