A Swivel bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a low tongue relief mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with low tongue relief. It provides a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
- ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings connected by a vertical shank. The mouthpiece is attached to this shank and pivots up and down, creating a lifting effect. It can be used with one or two reins.

A little room for the tongue without freeing up the palate: the first step toward tongue freedom when a simple joint presses too much in the center.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
