A Verdun bit (D-rings) made of blue-patinated Sweet Iron, with a Waterford barrel with rollers.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is a mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ A succession of articulated elliptical links: the barrel follows every contour and offers no fixed point of leverage. Used on heavy-mouthed horses that have difficulty relaxing their jaws.
- ✔ Two D-shaped rings that do not tip back and forth: greater stability and more direct action. The D shape increases lateral contact against the cheek, making steering easier.

🐎 Why choose this product?
There is no fixed point of leverage: the heavy-mouthed horse has nothing to lean against. Reserve it for steady hands, as its mobility leaves no room for a moving hand.
🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile barrel, reserved for experienced, steady hands.
