This bit is made of solid Cuprigan — an alloy of 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron, and 1% zinc — mounted on stainless steel components. As it oxidizes, the material releases a pleasant smell and taste. Its anatomical shape follows the contours of the mouth and distributes pressure gently and evenly.

The Verdun bit has D-rings that do not rotate freely, so the rein aids have a more direct action. This type of bit is generally well accepted because the mouthpiece remains relatively stable in the mouth. The D-shape prevents the bit from being pulled through the mouth and provides good guidance, making it suitable for young horses.

✨ Key benefits

  • ✔ Solid Cuprigan: its oxidation releases a taste that stimulates salivation
  • ✔ Anatomical shape: pressure is distributed without pressure points
  • ✔ 12 mm mouthpiece, 65 x 50 mm D-rings
  • ✔ Fixed D-rings: stable mouthpiece and more direct rein aids
  • ✔ The D-shape prevents the bit from being pulled through the mouth

🐎 Why choose this product?

A thin mouthpiece concentrates pressure over a smaller surface area: with the same hand, it is felt more strongly than a thick mouthpiece. The 12 mm size is therefore intended for a horse that accepts precise contact, or for a small mouth where a thick mouthpiece would not fit well. With a double-jointed bit, the mouthpiece consists of three parts, and the central part lies flat on the tongue. This creates more pressure on the tongue than a single-jointed bit, while eliminating the V-shaped effect toward the palate.

🧴 Care instructions

Rinse the bit with clean water after each use. ⚠️ Cuprigan tarnishes and turns green as it oxidizes: this is the normal behavior of the alloy, not a defect, and it should not be removed with an abrasive product.
