Injuries at the corners of the lips are common and insidious: they appear under the bit, are difficult to see, and cause the horse to resist without an obvious explanation. A pair of washers costs just a few euros and eliminates the cause. The open design has the advantage of actually being used.
🧴 Usage advice
Check that the washer remains properly in place after a few minutes of work: because it is open, it should be checked at first. Clean the inside regularly: saliva and sand accumulate there and become abrasive themselves. ⚠️ A washer cannot compensate for an incorrectly sized bit: first check the mouthpiece width.
