The girth area is the part of the horse that experiences the most rubbing: the skin is thin there, the elbow passes through with every stride, and girth sores can take weeks to heal. Everything that happens there is reflected in the horse's movement.
🧴 Care instructions
⚠️ Tighten the girth in several stages, walking between each hole: a horse girthed all at once tenses up and expands its belly, leaving the girth too loose ten minutes later. ⚠️ Measure the length from one billet hole to the other with the girth in place: the buckles must remain above the elbow and below the flap, never straddling either one. Clean with glycerine soap, then apply leather grease once the leather is dry.
