Pull the pad up into the saddle’s gullet before tightening the girth to clear the withers: a pad stretched over the spinous processes presses exactly where it should not. Brush it dry after each session and wash it regularly — it is sweat salt, not the fabric, that irritates the skin. ⚠️ Do not use fabric softener: it clogs the fibres that regulate moisture.
